ONDAS

INDIE FOLK

Ondas began in 2005 with the album 'Ridgehouse Recordings'. Ryan Flores is the driving force behind this project. Ondas goes in a completely different direction style-wise from Flores' other endeavors and is also a departure from his usual singing voice and writing style. This project gives Flores an avenue to express himself in a more personal and pensive way. Though there is still plenty of social commentary and pointedly comical flares, as is Flores' custom, Ondas spans a variety of timbres and themes that are more delicate and experimental than Flores' other projects.

HEART SHAPED STONES

  NOT JUST ANOTHER CONCEPT ALBUM

‘Heart Shaped Stones’ is not a concept album that only speaks to a singular issue or theme. Flores uses lyrical imagery and stirring melodies to tell a post-modern narrative about people and their ideals of love (or their collection of heart shaped stones, as per the central recurring image). In some ways this album is about polarities, too, blending acoustic and electronic elements, the cheerful and the melancholy, the crude and the refined, clean and dirty... Thus, it is a simultaneously tragic and romantic hymn sung to the faithless cynics who stopped believing in love (weighed down by their own heart shaped stones) as well as the hopeful poets and mystics who keep gathering these sacred objects for the collective altar. ‘Heart Shaped Stones’ is uniquely tailored to weigh the enigmatic qualities of modern life and love. This album, playful and profound, also makes for good headphone listening.
